The Hull Sword (2014)
GALLERY Description: Shown is a painting of Captain Isaac Hullís sword on three canvases. Captain Isaac Hull  was USS Constitutionís Captain during the battle between HMS Guerriere on August the 19th  duing the War of 1812. After the war, charges of the misappropriation of funds were filed against  Hull while he was the Commandmant of the Charlestown Navy Yard. Hull gave the sword to  Commodore David Porter as as a gift for saving his reputation, career and pension in 1822  after Porter cleared Hull of the false charges. The sword stayed in Porterís family for 84 years; the  sword is now owned by the USS Constitution Museum in Boston.  USS Constitution Museum: Captain Isaac Hull's Sword Returns to Boston
