Description: Painted is the French Jesuit mission of Sainte Marie among the Hurons during the summer of 1645 near Midland, Ontario Canada. Shown standing in black is Jean de Brebeuf, a missionary priest who wrote the oldest Christmas hymn, “Huron Carol,” in North America for the Huron-Wendat native indians in the surrounding settlements. Sitting to his right is Jerome Lalement which founded the mission in 1639. Saint Antoine Daniel greets a soldier to their left. Medium: Acrylic Size: 24 x 36 inches (2 ft. x 3.5 ft.)
